A meal is served Monday -Friday at noon. The meals are nutritionally balanced meals which provide 2 RDA. A second meal or Ensure is also available for eligible persons. There is a suggested donation of $3.00 for those who are 60 years of age and older. The suggested donation for meals which are carried out are $3.50. Meals can also be served to those under 60 for the full cost of the meal which is $5.25 per meal. Reservations for meals are required. See Calendar for Menu
Home Delivered Meals are available Monday-Friday for eligible participants. Homebound clients who have meals delivered must be 60 and over. Eligibility for meals will be determined by an intake worker. The definition of homebound status is the person is not able to leave the home without assistance. The suggested donation is $3.50 per meal. Second meals and Ensure are also available for eligible clients.
A variety of services may be provided within the guidelines of the program. An example of some of the services which are available are: Personal Care, Homemaker, Adult Day care, home modification, Emergency response system, meals, transportation, equipment, shopping assistance, Caregiver Respite, and overnight Respite. A variety of recreational activities may be enjoyed at the Golden Age Center. Billiard tables are available Monday through Friday from 8-4. Senior Citizens also enjoy card games, bingo 2 times weekly on Tuesday and Friday at 1:00 p.m.. Dances are held every other Friday evening with a band playing live music. The entire community is invited to participate. During the Spring and Summer months there are tours and picnic outings with a picnic lunch provided
Legal Services are available for those 60 and older by calling Utah Legal Services at 1-801-374-6766 or 1-800-662-1563. Regular group seminars are held at the Golden Age Center with a information on the services available for older adults. Call the Golden Age Center for the dates of seminars.
Shopping assistance is available to assist those who are not able to leave their homes to do their own shopping or do necessary errands. A worker will pick up shopping list and pick up supplies and deliver them back the same day.
Transportation is available for older adults 60 and over in all areas of Uintah County. By calling the Golden Age Center 24 hours in advance passengers may be picked up at their homes and taken to doctor appointments, shopping, hair appointments, and activities at the Senior Center. The driver will assist passengers into vehicles and public facilities and when needed assist passengers with shopping and carrying bags. Buses are equipped with wheel chair lifts for disabled passengers. Transportation is available five days a week from 9:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.
An Outreach worker is available Monday-Friday. Worker will provide information concerning programs and services provided by Uintah County Aging Services and encourage them to participate in activities at the Senior Center. Outreach will be provided by home visits, telephone calls, one on one contacts in the Senior Center, with public presentations, newspaper articles, published materials and brochures in public places within the service area. Health Insurance Counselors will provide information to the public Monday-Friday. Information provided will cover such programs as Medicare, Medicaid, and supplemental Insurance policies. A counselor will be available every Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. to provide counseling services for any one who may need assistance. The counselor can also fill out necessary paper work to assist elderly clients in the application process for Medicaid or Prescription drug benefits. 789-2169.
When there are concerns about abuse or exploitation of a disabled or an older adult the incidents can be reported to the Uintah Golden Age Center or to Adult Protective Services by calling 1-800-371-7897 or by calling 722-6551.
